OpenAI ships Lockdown Mode to blunt prompt-injection data theft
OpenAI released Lockdown Mode on 6 June, a stricter setting that disables live web browsing, web image retrieval, deep research, and agent mode so ChatGPT pulls only from cached content. The goal is to cut the risk of sensitive data being exfiltrated when malicious instructions are hidden in web pages or uploaded files. OpenAI says it is rolling out to self-serve ChatGPT Business accounts and eligible personal accounts, and warns it is not a full fix.
